Sewing Tip: Elastic

Hey Everyone!  Since I was working on a project today that required elastic, I thought I would share an easier way to work with it.

First, you will need a safety pin to pin on the end of your piece of elastic.


Then begin to thread in your elastic by placing the pin end in first.


Then just start scrunching it in.

Pull some forward and then pull your cloth back towards the other end so that you will have room to pull the pin forward and scrunch it up again.  Keep doing this until the end (non-pin end) is at the very edge.
Secure the end by sewing it across the elastic.  After you finish sewing, you can finish scrunching and pulling the elastic the rest of the way through the casing.

And there you have it!

Here's a picture of the Diaper Bag that I finished making today for my sweet daughter, Heather.

And here a picture of those pockets that I used the elastic on.
This is a very roomy Diaper Bag as you can see.  Heather is going to test drive this bag for me and let me know of any improvements that it might need.  Thanks for reading my blog!

    I love the diaper bag! I wish I needed it! But my baby is three and we are done. :( Maybe we should have more just so I can make a cool looking diaper bag?? ha ha ya right I think 5 is enough. ha ha
